On July 8th, a delegation led by Abdul Malik, Vice-Chancellor of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS), Pakistan, visited our university. Liu Wenhe, Vice President of our university, met with the visiting guests in the meeting room on the 10th floor of the Northern Marine Data Application Engineering Center and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities. Leaders and relevant staff from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the College of Marine Technology and Environment attended the meeting.

Liu Wenhe extended a warm welcome to Malik and his delegation, introduced the university’s educational characteristics and disciplinary strengths, and fully affirmed the phased cooperation outcomes achieved by the two sides in fields such as academic exchanges in the early stage. He noted that in the future, both sides should focus on core areas including marine big data sharing and application, marine environmental evolution research, and modern aquaculture. He called for continued deepening of key cooperation priorities including joint training of faculty and students, joint efforts on scientific research projects, and co-construction of “the Belt and Road” marine laboratory, so as to further consolidate the cooperation foundation, expand cooperation dimensions, and strive for complementary advantages and mutual benefit and win-win results.
Malik expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception from our university, and introduced the educational characteristics, scientific research platforms and key research directions of LUAWMS in detail. He expressed the hope that, relying on the disciplinary and resource strengths of both sides, the two universities will continue to deepen efforts in marine ecological protection, marine scientific research and other fields. He noted that in-depth inter-university cooperation will strengthen the friendly exchanges between China and Pakistan, and build a new pattern of long-term, stable and mutually beneficial cooperation.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the university’s Northern Marine Data Application Engineering Center, Liaoning Province Shellfish Breeding Engineering Technology Research Center and other places to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of the university’s disciplinary research platforms and its scientific research outcomes in the marine field.
