President Du Ming Meets with Delegation from Sabah, Malaysia

On March 4th, President Du Ming met with Datuk Ramlee bin KariahChief Operating Officer of the Sabah Progress and Prosperity Secretariat of Malaysia, and his delegation at the Conference Room on the 5th Floor of the Administration Building, and held an exchange symposium. Vice President Liu Wenhe attended and presided over the meeting. Relevant officials from the Foreign Affairs Office of Dalian Municipal People’s Government , as well as leaders and relevant staff of the University’s International Exchange and Cooperation Office and relevant colleges attended the symposium.

Du Ming extended a warm welcome to Datuk Ramlee and his delegation, and introduced the University’s disciplinary strengths in aquaculture and marine science, as well as its achievements in international cooperation. Du Ming noted that Sabah State is endowed with exceptional marine resources, which are highly aligned with the University’s research focus. He expressed the hope that both sides would take this exchange as an opportunity to carry out substantive cooperation in areas such as green development of fisheries, marine resources development and talent training, and advance the establishment of a long-term and stable cooperation platform.

Ramlee bin Kariah expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the University, and introduced the development plan for the blue economy of Sabah State. He stated that he looked forward to strengthening cooperation between the two sides in fields including aquaculture technology and the development of marine data platforms, as well as accelerated progress on the signing of the cooperation agreement to facilitate the development of Sabah’s blue economy.

Before the meeting, the delegation visited the University’s Marine Power Square, Key Laboratory of Northern Seawater Enhanced Aquaculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Modern Aquatic Seed Breeding Center, and Northern Marine Data Application Engineering Center in succession, gaining an in-depth understanding of the development of the University’s research platforms and its scientific research achievements in the marine sector. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on cooperation details, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming visit of the Governor of Sabah State with his delegation and the signing of the cooperation agreement in May this year.
