On March 28th, the Work Meeting on Discipline Development and International Exchange & Cooperation was held in the fifth-floor conference room of the Administration Building. Vice President Liu Wenhe attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Liu Wenhe pointed out that the application for Doctoral Degree Conferring Unit status represents a major opportunity for the university's development, serves as the top priority of this year's work, and constitutes the core task for the university's current development. The entire university must work in unison to ensure the success of the application. Regarding the doctoral program application, discipline development, and international exchange work, Liu Wenhe put forward three requirements: First, unify thinking and elevate perspectives. Fully recognize the significance of applying for Doctoral Degree Conferring Unit status, deeply understand its crucial role in enhancing the university's academic level and promoting connotative development, strengthen the sense of responsibility and mission, and solidly advance all tasks related to discipline development and international exchange. Second, focus on key priorities and promote integrated development. Concentrate on high-quality development goals, clarify the university's positioning, explore new models of cooperative education, and prioritize the advancement of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. Strengthen the connotative development of disciplines, enhance team effectiveness, and establish a favorable pattern of integrated development encompassing disciplines, programs, and teams. Third, ensure thorough implementation and demonstrate responsibility. Conduct comprehensive analysis against evaluation indicators item by item, deeply examine the current state of discipline development, identify disciplinary strengths and distinctive features, and pinpoint constraints and shortcomings. Concentrate superior resources for precise efforts, build competitive and advantageous disciplines, and effectively promote substantive progress in the application work.
