Both sides engaged in friendly exchanges focusing on deepening university-local government cooperation.
During the symposium, Yi Qingtao welcomed the visit of Governor Tasso and his delegation. He reviewed the long-term friendly cooperation history between the university and Iwate Prefecture since 2007 in areas such as talent exchange and scientific research collaboration. He specifically pointed out that since the establishment of an exchange mechanism, numerous faculty members and students have been selected to participate in training activities in Iwate Prefecture, and multiple joint research projects have been applied for in fields such as aquaculture technology R&D and agricultural product processing. Yi noted that Iwate Prefecture's development experience in ecological agriculture, marine economy, and other fields highly aligns with the disciplinary strengths of our university. He expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further expand industry-university-research collaboration in disciplines like smart fisheries and food science. Simultaneously, he expressed a desire to explore innovative models with Iwate Prefecture in the field of youth safety education, specifically to jointly develop emergency evacuation and safety courses for elementary students at our affiliated primary school, thereby enhancing the safety protection capabilities of minors.
Governor Tasso expressed gratitude for the warm reception from our university and provided a detailed introduction to the industrial development profile of Iwate Prefecture. He pointed out that as a major prefecture in Japan for agriculture and fisheries, Iwate hopes to leverage our university's technical advantages in fields like aquatic seed industry and food engineering to deepen practical cooperation between the two sides in areas such as seed breeding technology sharing. Governor Tasso stated that Iwate Prefecture has accumulated rich practical experience in natural disaster emergency management and is willing to actively support the safety education cooperation with our affiliated primary school. He proposed coordinating local educational institutions to jointly develop an emergency evacuation and safety course system with our university that is both entertaining and practical, promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Japanese youth in the field of safety knowledge dissemination.
Prior to the meeting, Governor Tasso led the delegation on visits to our university's Maritime Power Square and the Modern Aquatic Seed Breeding Center.
