Mark Cartwright, Deputy Executive Director of Otago Polytechnic, Led a Delegation to DLOU

On September 11th, Mark Cartwright, Deputy Executive Director of Otago Polytechnic, a business division of Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, and Adrian Tetlow, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Otago Polytechnic, visited DLOU. Yao Jie, Secretary of the CPC Dalian Ocean University Committee, and Zhang Guochen, Vice President of DLOU, met with the guests.

 Yao Jie extended his warm welcome to the delegation, and gave an overview of DLOU’s strengths and recent development. He said that fruitful results have been achieved in talent cultivation and personnel training since the approval of the joint mechanical engineering program. Such success has been made by the consistent support from Otago Polytechnic and the close cooperation between the two universities. He hoped that after the merging of Otago Polytechnic with all other New Zealand Polytechnics to become part of Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, the two universities can continue to maintain the cooperative relationship so as to ensure the future success of the joint program.

 Mark Cartwright expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and fully acknowledged the achievements of the two universities in the joint program. He looked forward to further strengthening the mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between the two universities.

Later, Mark Cartwright and his delegation attended the conference for the Dalian Ocean University and Otago Polytechnic Joint Mechanical Engineering Program. Zhang Guochen, Vice President of DLOU, attended and presided over the conference. Also in attendance were Director of China Representative Office of Otago Polytechnic, a business division of Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, and faculty staff from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and College of China-New Zealand Collaboration of DLOU.

 Zhang Guochen expressed that it has been the eighth year of the collaboration and hoped that by working together closer and further, the two sides can promote the sustainable development of the joint program.        

 Mark Cartwright said that Otago Polytechnic places great value on the relationship with DLOU, and looks forward to continuing the successful relationship into the future.

 At the conference, both parties exchanged in-depth opinions on issues such as students going abroad, study tours, and faculty training, and discussed matters such as the adjustment of cultivation plans and laboratory construction.
