Youth Academic Forum of Asian Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology Held in Dalian Successfully

From November 21st to 22nd, 2020, the Youth Academic Forum of Asian Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology (hereinafter referred to as “ASDCI”) and Fish Disease Committee of China Society of Fisheries was successfully held in Dalian, China. Under the theme of “Young People Strive for Innovation”, the forum attracted more than 200 experts and scholars from 33 domestic universities and research institutes. 

The forum aimed to build a platform for academic exchanges on youth research, promote academic innovation capacities of young scholars, and cultivate academic talents in the era of developmental and comparative immunology and fish disease.

Prof. L. Courtney Smith, president of International Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology (hereinafter referred to as “ISDCI”), delivered a speech by video. She emphasized the interests and passion of the young scholars and graduate students to the scientific research, and encouraged them to pursue science and strive for innovation. Prof. Linsheng Song, president of ASDCI, attended the opening ceremony and also delivered a speech. He reviewed the development of ASDCI, and pointed out that an increasing number of Asian scholars have devoted to the field of developmental and comparative immunology and achieved a lot. These achievements have greatly promoted the rapid development of developmental and comparative immunology.

There were one plenary lecture, seven invited lectures and thirty-five oral presentations extending to the innate immunity, adaptive immunity, pathogenic microorganism, disease control and developmental immunology in this forum. The participants shared their latest research achievements and discussed the cutting-edge scientific issues and problems on the developmental and comparative immunology and fish disease. Eight outstanding report awards were elected at the forum.

The forum provided an opportunity for young scholars to learn international frontiers, broaden their horizons, stimulate science innovation and seek new ideas for future academic research and cooperation in the field of developmental and comparative immunology and fish disease.
